The Hidden Issues Caused by Rear-end Collisions

August 4, 2021/by carmel

Rear-end collisions can cause a slew of car problems. It goes beyond the external damage, which many drivers often overlook. This is the reason why you should have your car inspected thoroughly after a collision. You’ll be surprised by the hidden issues a professional auto technician may discover.

Remember that when it comes to collisions, you should only trust a legitimate auto shop. You should do this whether the collision is major or not.

Hidden issues caused by rear-end collisions

Auto body issues

Aside from the point of impact, your car will suffer from other auto body issues after the accident. The force of the collision will compromise the integrity of the car frame.

Such frame issues can affect how well your car door will close as well as the vehicle’s roadworthiness. If not addressed right away, auto body issues can branch out into more serious problems.

Poor vehicle alignment

It’s not easy to spot vehicle alignment issues after a collision. It requires intensive and careful inspection in the auto shop under the trained eye of a technician.

Problematic vehicle alignment after a collision can lead to difficulty steering as well as premature tire wear. In some cases, it would be difficult to keep within your lane, which directly increases your risk of road accidents.

Braking problems

Brake issues must be fixed before you drive the car again. This is for your safety as well as the well-being of other drivers on the road.

During a rear-end collision, most drivers will try to stop the car by pushing the brakes really hard. Unfortunately, this will subject your car brakes to extreme wear and tear. The braking pads will sustain major damages, not to mention that your tires will lose their tread.

Unfortunately, braking problems aren’t readily visible to the naked eye. It requires close examination at an auto shop. The last place you want to discover faulty brakes is in the middle of the road.

Transmission issues

A rear-end collision will transfer excessive force into your car. Such force will be absorbed by the engine, which can lead to a myriad of transmission problems.

The pressure can ruin the transmission system and surrounding car components. This problem is usually hidden until a technician conducts a full inspection of your vehicle.

Take note that transmission issues can be costly, especially if not detected early. Therefore, it’s best to pay for a thorough inspection of your vehicle after the collision instead of suffering the consequences.

Electrical problems

Aside from transmission, your vehicle can also sustain electrical damages after the collision. It could affect the battery, lights, and the starter of your vehicle.

Since electrical problems often manifest on and off, you may not notice them right away. Many drivers who suffered rear-end collisions only discovered electrical issues once they got flagged for malfunctioning tail lights.

Conclusion

Rear-end collisions will cause a series of problems for your car and your well-being. It’s important to have your vehicle inspected and repaired right away. Most of all, you should consult a doctor after the collision to ensure that you didn’t suffer from any serious injuries.
