vehicles on road in city

  1. Tailgating
  2. Unmindful of the blind spots
  3. Not looking at the side mirrors
  4. Road wrath
  5. Not utilizing turn signals
  6. Disregarding the rules of a 4-way stop
  7. Taking shifts in the wrong lane
  8. Driving slowly
  9. Habitual braking
  10. Not following the merge road protocol

CAUTIOUS DRIVING POINTERS

  • NEVER TAILGATE

You have to follow the proper distance between you and the vehicle in front of you so that sudden stop will give you time to step on the brake. The safe distance is at least three seconds from the car in front. Of course, when it is slippery, you need to add a few more seconds should you slide.

  • WATCH OUT FOR YOUR BLIND SPOTS

You should be aware of the blind spots of your vehicle and take a look first before turning or switching lane. You likewise have to be aware of the blind spots of other vehicles and stay away from moving in those blind spots. You should always be seen by other motorists.

  • SHIFTING YOUR SIDE MIRRORS

Tilt the mirror a little bit out that you do not see your car, but see more of the road.

  • CONTROL YOUR ANGER

When somebody cuts while driving, you would probably be so angry that you might even shout at the person. This will even build more tension. If you find a motorists being so careless on the road, call 911 using your hands-free phone.

  • USAGE OF TURNING SIGNAL

Always use your signal if you want to turn or change lane. Once you take a look at your blind spot and turn, check on your signal to make sure it is turned off. If not, look down at your dashboard to find out if your blinker is turned off. If you do not switch it off, you will confuse the other motorists with the blinker on. It could result to a bad accident.

  • UNDERSTAND HOW TO MANAGE A FOUR-WAY STOP

You have the right of way if you are the first car that made a full stop in an intersection. If two vehicles came at the same time and are vertical to each other, the one on the right will have the right-of-way.

  • NEVER DRIVE SLOWLY IN THE PASSING LANE

The left lane is for passing. After you have traversed the left, drive back on the right lane for others to be safe in utilizing the passing lane.

Another tip is be kind to other motorists even if you have been jammed on the road for a long time. Let a driver wedge in going to the highway. Finally, use your brake only when needed.

Just make sure you keep the right distance from the vehicle in front of you. If you keep on stepping on the break, other motorists would not know if you are braking or just holding up on your speed.
